    The Official Football (Soccer) Thread

The EPL is going to be interesting this year, with (i believe) the 'big four' broken up.

I think it's going to be a tough season and i hope that we (Arsenal) can get a top 4 finish.

I also hope Real Madrid spank Barcelona this season. The Barcelona players have acted very poorly this summer.

Anyway looking forward to it immensely.

I don't want Real Madrid to succeed if they play Mourinho football. It is painful to watch most of the time. Barcelona play the game how it should be played - mostly - and I can't begrudge their success.

Can't wait for the EPL to kick-off. Finally something watch on TV! Football has only been off the TV for a few weeks but it seems like forever.

Hopefully Liverpool get beaten all season!

Dont get me wrong, Barcelona deserve all the success they get, i just dont like how their players blatently and publicly tapped up Fabregas over the summer without consequence.

I agree though its seems like forever since i last watched a football match. I've even been watching preseason games of teams i dont even give a crap about to compensate.

Can't wait. A good thing is that I don't work Saturday mornings that much anymore so I should be able to watch a lot more games. Hopefully Arsenal can kick some ass, and I look forward to watching Newcastle United as well.

I fail to see the problem, whats wrong with players saying they would love for their international teammate and good friend to move to the same club as them?

What they were doing was their level best to unsettle Fabregas from Arsenal with whom he still has a long term contract. They were trying to get Fabregas to hand in a transfer request, which would therefore immediately drive his price down. The staff and officials at any football club are in no way allowed to persuade a player from another club to join theirs (see link below), why should the players be any different? Just because they are Europes "Golden Boys"? They are still representitives of their club.

An example of this is when Ashley Cole left Arsenal for Chelsea - Link

Just because Barcelona are one of the most powerful and successful clubs in Europe, doesn't mean they should get away with breaking rules that everyone else has to adhere to.

I never know when these games are on. I'm a fan, but seem to only catch the 2nd half of the games by chance.
