It's not what their current massive success is based on. Quite the opposite.. it's based on a suite of products that have extremely high margin hardware.
More BS IMO. Their "cult following" isn't extending to every product they release. They've seen increases in their other businesses, but they have nothing in their product lines that matches the success of the iOS devices.And its rather easy to compete when you have a cult following.
Apple TV being one example.
The iPod, iPhone, and iPad are massive successes because they are extremely sleek and useful products.. sure.. backed by great marketing and "popularity".. but still extremely valuable products to the people that buy them, who make extensive use of them. Only butthurt anti-Apple people can't see that.
I'm not saying Apple won't release an iTV.. I'm just personally leaning towards the rumors being false. Wouldn't shock me, but would surprise me a little.
Hmm, it looks like apple once again sat back and watched innovation (smart TVs) and are going to come out with a sleeker and easier to use product.
I would license for free or a nominal fee iOS for Smart TVs to keep people in the Apple ecosystem which encourages the use of iTunes and the buying of iDevices.
Or you could make your own TV like a retard. Industry with razor thin margins suffering from global overcapacity? Time to get a slice of that action! Think different/dumb.

Yea seems dumb. Feel like it's more likely there'd be a lot of tv's "powered by iTV", instead just two or three models
