Thread: Samsung S27A950D Review

Hi there NCX, i'm 'from google'. I would like to initally thank you for your review, it was veyr informative and helped me make a decision regarding the samsung.

I had it arrive yesterday and am very please with the display, BUT... I was wondeirng your opinion,

1) Firstly, when i bought it i was concerned about the resolution which seemed low for a monitor of this size, on use it's not that noticeable, but it is a thought in the back of my mind. I am wondering if you know of any other 3d panels which are 27" which have a higher resolution that you know of?
2) Secondly, the nvision vs ati hd3d argument. I really have very little experience with ati flavours and am unsure on it's performance, i know you said you are due to do this, but do you have any inital impressions? do you know if all games work with both? perhaps the nvdia nvision ready games are slightly better?
3) Thirdly and finally i found the 2d-3d mode on the monitor, does attempt a 3d version of the title youre playing, but doesn't really succed. OBviosuly i know it won't be as good as a dedicated 3g game but i was wondering about your experience, did you feel that with optimised settings the 2d-3d transformation is worth it or comparable to the ati hd3d or nvsiion equivalents?

I have tried the Samsung with your settings and the stereoscopic player and was very impressed, it's a shame it isn't nvidia ready as i think it would make all the difference i plan on testing the ati hd3d myself this weekend to see if it's a worth competitior, it's a shame that so many games are already nvidia 3d only.

I was actually told this monitor should support nvidia nvision too, but i haven't figured out a way of doing it.

If you know of, or work out, a work around for this issue i'd love to know.

I have not used Nvidia 3D myself, so I don't know how it compares...but I will soon. Still I would avoid the HN274 due to the terrible picture quality and stick with a 23" Nivida 3D compatible monitor.

This reviews is good for H274HL, but very wrong for HN275H !!!

I'm sitting on a LG Flatron Wide 22". I've placed an order for that Samsung Baby (For some reason it takes over a month to get in stock so far) so in the mean time I am contemplating if I made the right choice. My needs are primarily mmo games ala wow and swtor and the normal office work/surfing etc. My decision for placing an order for this baby was primarily based upon, and in this order:
- it being LED based
- 120 HZ (My sony vaio tv with 100HZ looks amazing and really sharp)
- Photo Accuracy
- 27"
It being 3D & having energy saving features are for me only the icing on the cake, and the design is something I like.

So based upon these facts would this be a screen that you'd recommend that i buy, or are there similar screens which would satisfy my needs better ?
